Tapro Gems is a family-owned gem business rooted in Sri Lanka, built on more than 25 years of knowledge, experience, and passion for the country’s precious gemstones. What began as a family business in Sri Lanka has grown through years of dedication and expertise, and is now expanding to Europe, beginning in Finland.
Our experienced team in Sri Lanka has developed extensive knowledge of the local gem industry and carefully selects each gemstone brought to Finland. From the wide variety of gemstones available in Sri Lanka, we choose only the finest stones that meet our standards for quality, authenticity, color, clarity, cut, and overall character.

Uditha De Alwis
Uditha De Alwis leads On Gem Group and Serene Gem Group, two established names in Sri Lanka’s gem trade. His experience spans sourcing rough and cut stones at origin, working alongside miners and cutters, and supplying gemstones to international buyers.
That hands-on knowledge of the Ratnapura gem fields and long-standing relationships across the industry shape the standards behind every stone Tapro Gems offers.
Chathuranga Weerakoon
Chathuranga guides how Tapro Gems presents its gemstones to European collectors, investors and designers, telling the story of each stone clearly and honestly.
Akla De Alwis
Akla oversees day-to-day operations, from selecting stones in Sri Lanka to certification, logistics and personal client service in Finland.
